CompanyPaul O'Mara, owner / operator of O'Mara Construction Management Ltd. (OCM), began his career in the construction industry in 1974. After University, Paul initially worked in the trades, turning his expertise to project management and general contracting.

Paul incorporated as Pomar Building Projects Ltd. in 1980. Paul changed the name of the business to O'Mara Construction Management Ltd. in 2004 to better reflect the companies wide range of services.

Paul brings a great deal of established partnerships to the table with architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects, mill workers, and cabinet makers. He has a well established rapport and working relationship with the Resort Municipality of Whistler's building department and planners.

THE RIGHT PLANNING - IN WRITING

Paul spends a lot of time doing the up-front planning work to ensure that everything goes smoothly. The right amount of planning is critical to the success of each project. Paul notes, "We do what it takes to prepare properly."  Proposals always include a Scope of Work which includes an incorporated budget. Proposals and estimates are professionally developed using software and in-house templates.

Paul attended McGill University (Economics & Political Science) and Loyola College (General Arts). He continues to upgrade his skills and experience at courses and workshops offered by British Columbia Institute of Technology, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. / Canadian Home Builders' Association Builder's and the Science Council of Canada.

COMMITTED TO THE COMMUNITY

Paul has been always been an active member of the Whistler community. His community involvement includes:

  • Whistler Chamber of Commerce, since 1990
  • Whistler School Tax Action Committee, 1989 - 2004.
  • The Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation Drive Fore Life Golf Tournament, since 2002.
    Organizing Committee. Cause is to increase awareness and provide for clinical study and research for teenage depression and depression related suicide. Raised almost $1 million since its creation.
